Step One: The Beginning
Everyone has to start at the beginning. To do this,
it helps to know what PowerPoint is all about. PowerPoint is a complete
presentation graphics package. The software provides everything you need to
produce a professional-looking presentation.
The following gives you a quick overview of what you can do in PowerPoint:
- When you create a presentation using
PowerPoint, the presentation is made up of a series of slides.
- In addition to slides, you can print
audience handouts, outlines, and speaker's notes.
- You can keep your entire presentation in a
single file- all your slides, speaker's notes, and audience handouts.
- You can import what you have created in
other Microsoft products, such as Word and Excel into any of your slides.
PowerPoint is available as a stand-alone software
product or as part of the Office Suite (Microsoft). If you don't have PowerPoint
you can usually find the software available on University computers (libraries
or computer labs), cybercafe's, community libraries, and maybe even a good
friends' computer! If you are a student or a faculty member you can purchase
PowerPoint at academic prices through Costco, Office Depot
or sites such as:
Remember, copying someone's personally owned copy is illegal and it is better to
buy your own.
